B4M Tarot

Frequently asked questions

Honest answers, written plainly. No prediction claims — see the table to deal a reading, or /for-agents.html if you're an agent.

Is this a real reading, or is it going to predict my future?

No. Tarot draws cards at random and an LLM writes about what fell, but a reading is not a prediction — it doesn't know anything about your future that you couldn't reason out yourself. Treat it as a structured way to think something through, seeded by chance, not a forecast. The reading engine is deliberately built to avoid cold-reading tricks — vague statements that feel personal because almost everyone reads themselves into them.

How are the cards chosen? Is the draw actually random?

Yes. Every reading gets an 8-character seed, shown in the “seed” pill at the bottom of the table and carried in the reading's URL, and the deal is a seeded pseudo-random shuffle run entirely in your browser. The seed alone determines every card, position, and reversal — nothing about your account, your memories, or your questions ever changes which cards you draw. Anyone with the seed can reproduce the exact same draw.

What does it mean when a card is reversed?

About 30% of drawn cards land reversed, decided independently per card by the same seeded draw as everything else. A reversed card carries a different set of keyword associations than its upright meaning — traditionally read as the same archetype turned inward, blocked, or overdone, rather than simply “the opposite” — and the narration reflects that.

What is Bike4Mind, and why do I need an account to have my cards read?

Bike4Mind (B4M) is the AI platform Tarot runs on and exists to introduce. Dealing cards is free and needs no account; reading them costs Bike4Mind credits, which requires signing in. A new Bike4Mind account gets 5,000 free credits once its email is verified. Tarot is intentionally a demo and lead-generation app for Bike4Mind, not a standalone business.

What does the “let the reader see your memories” toggle actually do?

It is off by default and hidden entirely if you're signed out. If you turn it on, Tarot reads short summaries of your Bike4Mind mementos for that one reading only, so the narration can be specific to you instead of generic. It never changes which cards you draw, and Tarot never changes or deletes your mementos — it only reads them, and only when you've explicitly opted in.

What does a reading cost?

Cost is billed in Bike4Mind credits, not a dollar price shown in the app. Measured in practice, a quick three-card reading costs about 40 credits, a deep one about 70, and a deep Celtic Cross about 100. With 5,000 free credits on a new account, that's well over a hundred quick three-card readings. Below 300 credits the table mentions the Bike4Mind subscription rather than letting you run out without warning.

Do you store or log anything about me?

Your session is a single HttpOnly cookie. Tarot never puts your credentials, your Bike4Mind key, your session token, or your memento content in a URL, a log, or anywhere client-side JavaScript can read them. Your credit balance is read with your own key and shown only to you. Tarot keeps no database and no reading history of its own; your memories stay in your Bike4Mind account, under Bike4Mind's privacy terms.

Is this just generic AI horoscope filler?

That's the specific failure mode the reading engine tries hardest to avoid. Suit clusters, the Major/Minor ratio, and a card's position relative to its neighbors are computed deterministically from the actual draw before the model writes anything, so the narrator works from real structure rather than vibes. Whether it succeeds for you is your call as the reader, not a promise this page can make on its own — the design docs and reading corpus are public in the GitHub repo if you want to check the method yourself.

What spreads and decks are available?

Five spreads: A Single Card, Past/Present/Future (three cards), The Compass (five cards), The Horseshoe (seven cards), and The Celtic Cross (ten cards). Two deck art styles today: Classic and Deco. Both use the same 78-card structure — 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana across four suits.

Can AI agents or scripts use Tarot programmatically?

Not yet as a live API or MCP server — that's planned, not shipped. What exists today: this FAQ, /llms.txt, /llms-full.txt, and /agents.json are all meant to be fetched and read by agents, and robots.txt explicitly allows the major AI crawlers. See /for-agents.html for the current state and what's coming.

Is Tarot open source?

Yes — MillionOnMars/tarot on GitHub. It is built as a reference implementation of the Bike4Mind stack (auth, credits, mementos), so the code and its design docs are meant to be read, not just the product used.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Dealing stays free forever — you can keep drawing cards with no account and no limit. Once your Bike4Mind credits hit zero, having them read again requires subscribing to Bike4Mind; the table says so plainly rather than failing silently or with a generic error.
