# B4M Tarot — full reference This is the long version of /llms.txt: the same facts, with the reasoning and the numbers included instead of just linked. Nothing here is a prediction claim. If a statement below reads like marketing, treat that as a bug and prefer /faq.html. ## What it is A free tarot table on the Bike4Mind (B4M) stack, open-sourced as a reference implementation of B4M's auth, credit, and memory (mementos) systems. Anyone can deal a spread with no account. Having the cards read — an LLM narration — requires signing in to a free Bike4Mind account, because narration spends Bike4Mind credits. Repo: https://github.com/MillionOnMars/tarot Live app: https://tarot.erikbethke.com/ ## The draw: random and seeded Every reading gets an 8-character seed, generated client-side and shown in the "seed" control at the bottom of the table. The deal is a deterministic pseudo-random shuffle (xmur3 to hash the seed into a 32-bit state, mulberry32 to advance it) run entirely in the browser. The seed is the only input: card order, position assignment, and each card's upright/reversed roll all derive from it. Signing in, opting into memory access, or asking a question never changes which cards you draw — those only affect how the narrator writes about the cards already drawn. Anyone who has the seed can reproduce the exact same draw. Reversal rate is about 30%, rolled independently per card from the same seed. ## The deck and spreads 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana (archetypal life-states) and 56 Minor Arcana across four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles), Ace through Ten plus Page/Knight/Queen/King. Two art styles ship today: Classic and Deco. Five spreads: - A Single Card — one card, one question. - Past, Present, Future — three cards in a row. - The Compass — five cards: situation, challenge, advice, root, outcome. - The Horseshoe — seven cards along an arc, past through outcome. - The Celtic Cross — ten cards, the long look. ## The narrator: what it does and does not use Before any narration is written, the engine computes suit clusters, number clusters, and the Major/Minor ratio directly from the draw — structural signal handed to the model rather than left for it to notice (or invent) unaided. The narrator is built against a reading corpus (in the repo, docs/corpus/) that documents real tarot history and technique, and separately catalogs cold-reading and Barnum-statement patterns as things to refuse, not draw on. The explicit design rule: every technique the narrator uses must be a pure function of the draw and the spread — never a read of the sitter's reactions. Mementos (opt-in). If a signed-in sitter turns on "let the reader see your memories," Tarot reads short summaries of that sitter's Bike4Mind mementos for that one reading only, to ground the narration in real specifics instead of generic statements. This is off by default, hidden when signed out, and — by Tarot's own stated discipline, not a technical restriction it can prove from outside — read-only: it never creates, edits, or deletes a memento. Turning it on or off never changes which cards are drawn. ## Credits and the Bike4Mind relationship Tarot is a lead-generation reference app for Bike4Mind, not a standalone business. A new Bike4Mind account gets 5,000 free credits once its email is verified. Measured cost: about 40 credits for a quick three-card reading, about 70 for a deep one, about 100 for a deep Celtic Cross — so 5,000 credits covers well over a hundred quick three-card readings. Below 300 credits remaining, the table mentions the Bike4Mind subscription. At zero credits, having cards read again requires subscribing; dealing (without a reading) stays free and unlimited regardless of balance. ## Privacy, in the specific sense that matters here The session is a single HttpOnly cookie. Tarot keeps credentials, the Bike4Mind key, the session token, and memento content out of URLs, logs, and anywhere client-side JavaScript can read them. Credit balance is read with the sitter's own key and shown only to that sitter. This page describes the product's own stated behavior; the authoritative privacy terms are Bike4Mind's, not Tarot's. ## For agents specifically Live: this file, /llms.txt, /faq.html, /for-agents.html, /agents.json, and /sitemap.xml — all static, crawlable without executing JavaScript. robots.txt explicitly allows GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, Claude-SearchBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Bytespider, Applebot-Extended, and anthropic-ai. Planned, not shipped: a live MCP server at /mcp (manifest at /.well-known/mcp.json) and a documented public reading API. Neither exists today — a request to either gets a routing error, not a tool call or a response body worth parsing. Check /agents.json for the current status before assuming otherwise. ## FAQ, inline See https://tarot.erikbethke.com/faq.html for the same twelve questions with structured data (FAQPage JSON-LD) attached. Short version of each: 1. Is it real / will it predict my future? — No. It's a structured way to think something through, not a forecast. 2. Is the draw actually random? — Yes, seeded and reproducible; see "The draw" above. 3. What do reversals mean? — ~30% of cards, rolled independently, read as the same archetype turned inward rather than simply reversed in meaning. 4. What is Bike4Mind and why sign in? — The platform Tarot runs on; reading (not dealing) costs its credits. 5. What does memory access do? — Opt-in, read-only by Tarot's stated discipline, affects narration only, never the draw. 6. What does it cost? — ~40 credits/quick three-card, ~70 deep, ~100 deep Celtic Cross, 5,000 free on signup. 7. Do you log anything? — Credentials and memento content are kept out of logs and URLs; see "Privacy" above. 8. Is it generic AI filler? — The engine is built against a corpus that catalogs and refuses cold-reading patterns; judge for yourself via the repo. 9. What spreads/decks exist? — Five spreads, two art styles; see "The deck and spreads" above. 10. Can agents use it? — Not via a live API/MCP yet; the crawlable docs above are what's live today. 11. Is it open source? — Yes, MillionOnMars/tarot on GitHub. 12. What happens at zero credits? — Dealing stays free; reading requires subscribing to Bike4Mind.
